Why bother doing all that you can, Dear One, when you can get by doing just enough?

Why bother doing the right the thing when no one really seems to care or to even be paying attention?

Why bother trusting, and making the harder, braver, more challenging choice when you’ve got something to lose?

Why bother putting in the extra effort to be thoughtful, generous, loving, persistent, patient, forgiving, and kind when it is not requested, required or expected?

Because what you put out is what you get back.

That’s why.

Character, Dear One, is not discovered in comfort or contentment. It can be expressed in those states, but rarely is something new discovered in comfort.

Not because it can’t be. Because it absolutely can be. But it rarely is, because comfort allows for complacency and passivity, while turmoil does not.

But, if you do nothing more than allow yourself to simply aspire to balance, to equanimity, and then pursue the hard things within that are required to achieve it, who you are, your true character will not only be revealed to you, but it will be strengthened as well.

To say that beauty is measured by how one looks – is like saying that intelligence is measured by how one smells.

Your eyes are not the determinate of beauty, Dear One, your heart is.

True beauty is not about how you look – it is about how you see.

Before you answer the phone today, Dear One, before you pick up any call, first ask yourself ‘Why am I going to take this call?’

• Is it curiosity?
• Is it love?
• Is it obligation?
• Is it fear?
• Is it responsibility?
• Is it self-mutilation?
• Is it habit?
• Is it because you genuinely want to connect with the person on the other end of the line?

Today, Dear One, just for the day, let the last answer on the list the be the only acceptable answer that there is.

Insecurity, Dear One is fueled by a fear of rejection, a fear of being left unloved.

It is an empty space inside you that is waiting for nourishment to be sent your way.

Send out a cord to another for the nourishment you need, and you may or may not get what you need in return.

Connect your cord to your source instead, and you need never fear that hunger again.
